510-105-VA, Printmaking Studio I
This course is a hands-on studio introduction to printmaking in which technique and the importance of process in art will be explored. Students will explore various print media techniques by which prints are designed, developed and printed on surfaces (such as paper and fabrics). Through various assignments the student will investigate the unique aesthetic qualities and subtleties of different printmaking techniques, including stencil printing, relief printing, mono printing, screen printing and digital printing processes. The student will be exposed to generating and interpreting creative ideas as well as the language and terminology specific to printmaking and learn to use these as they develop the skills required for critical self-reflection.
