410-511-VA, Accounting by Computers I
Prerequisite: Accounting II 410-211-VA This course is the first of two courses designed to permit students to learn and use a commercially available accounting software package. The focus of the course will be on the Simply Accounting software currently employed by many small businesses across North America. In addition to being able to explore in detail all aspects of the Simply Accounting program, students will learn how to evaluate small business software packages based on end-user needs and on different types of businesses. During the course, students will use the Simply Accounting software to set up a fictitious company, prepare the accounting records and run transactions on a regular basis. Full accounting reports will be prepared together with financial reports and other information documents.
