This course will address the impact of chronic illness, disability and dementia on the physical, cognitive and affective domains of older adults. Students will be introduced to a variety of assessment tools used with older adults losing autonomy. An emphasis will be placed on understanding and designing interventions which support choice and dignity, as well as promote the quality of life of older adults. Students will also explore best practices specific to caregiver stress and elder abuse.
