345-102-MQ, Religious World Views
In this course we will look at five of the major world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. We will look at the historic development of each religion, some of their main beliefs and practices, and some of the important issues each of these religions faces in a modern context. By developing an understanding of the main values and beliefs of each system we will also look at how religious beliefs can affect a personís world views. Students will work in small groups to develop a wiki project on a particular topic within one of the religions. In order to help students develop their group project, the course will follow a hybrid format during the first half of the semester. As such, class time will be used for bi-weekly group meetings with the teacher to discuss and develop the projects. The goal of this format is to allow each student to have a more directed learning experience with the teacher.
