345-102-MQ, Worldviews of Heroes and Heroines
Generally speaking, the hero/heroine is an individual who shows exceptional moral character, bravery and self-sacrifice in his/her attempts to do his/her duty, fulfill his/her potential and/or further the greater good. However, the hero/heroine is not a lone voice or actor: he/she embodies, reflects, articulates and shapes the worldview of the community he/she participates in and champions. It is by exemplifying the highest ideals of his/her community that he/she earns the label of hero/heroine. It is the purpose of this course to identify, explore and critically evaluate the worldviews of particular communities as reflected in the words and deeds of their heroes/heroines.
