The student is introduced to 8255 Handshaking as well as X86 hardware Interrupts. Main Characteristics, Programming and Interfacing of the 8259 Programmable Interrupt Controller, the 8254 Timer and Baud rate generator and of the 8155 Programmable I/O will be also presented. Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog Converter Interfacing and Programming will be covered as well as Stepper Motor Operation, Interfacing and Programming. The last topic to be taught will be the main features of a 32-bit Microprocessor such as the 386DX. In this course, in the labs, the students will design and build a basic Microprocessor Board.
