The objective of this course is for a student to be able to propose an appropriate heating/air conditioning system, a portable water distribution and waste disposal scheme and basic electrical distribution for a residence. Topics will include some basis principles of physics which have a bearing on thermal comfort and air quality, energy efficiency, insulation principles and basic heat loss calculations. The student will learn to interpret manufacturers literature, design tables and specifications. Some basic calculations and rules of thumb will be applied in sizing the various elements of these systems.
