This course is designed as an introduction to chemical principles for those students who need to complete a chemistry course at the Secondary 5 level in order to fulfill the entrance requirements for a Cegep program. Topics include: symbols, formulas, equations, the mole, elementary calculations in stoichiometry, the states of matter, ideal gases, real gases, kinetic molecular theory, heat transfer in chemical reactions, rates of chemical reactions, equilibrium in has phase reactions, dissociation of acids and salts in aqueous solutions, titration curves, redox reactions, voltaic and electrolytic cells.
