141-HSJ-06, Clinical Respiratory Care I
This course consists of a clinical internship in program affiliated clinical institutions. The student will be assigned to a variety of clinical environments and will be expected to perform basic acts of respiratory care, under direct supervision. These will include: client-patient assessment, blood gas interpretation, medical gas administration, humidity and aerosol therapy, suction therapy, chest physiotherapy, client-patient education, equipment disinfection, bronchoscopy assistance, chest x-ray interpretation, and sleep apnea monitoring. The application of interpersonal skills between patient-clients and other health care workers, will also be an inherent part of this course. This course also contains a didactic portion designed to provide theoretical information and support for some of the clinical components, especially for bronchoscopy and sleep apnea monitoring. Statement Of Competence: Perform basic respiratory care procedures on client-patient.
