The student will be able to outline indications for a cardiac stress test and will be able to prepare, monitor, and assist with a cardiac stress test in a simulated environment. Cardiac pharmacology will be studied, as well as advanced cardiac support procedures as outlined in the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocol. The student must provide proof of current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as outlined by the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, in order to graduate from this course, and will be expected to maintain certification through third year. Statement Of Competence: Apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation and cardiovascular monitoring and diagnostic procedures in simulated situations.
