520-HSC-03, The Camera and Society Photography reveals and influences the way people perceive the world. This course examines the changing interaction of camera and culture, and makes connections between still images and social ideas, using slide presentations, lectures and readings. In Women and Photography, we will study women as image and as imagemakers. We will examine mainstream photographic representations of women, as well as camera work that challenges dominant stereotypes.
