Fifth Annual Health Promotion Fair 2011 Edition

For the fifth year in a row, third-year nursing students provided the Vanier community with valuable health information.

The Health Promotion Fair which was held on March 10, 2011 displayed bright and informative booths on health topics such as:

diabetes
safe sex
safe partying
tatooing and piercing
sleep deprivation
tanning
bottled vs tap water

On October 17, 2010, the Nursing Department welcomed hundreds of visitors during Vanier College’s Open House event.

Vanier Nursing Students Participate in Ca Marche 2010

On September 19, 2010, Nursing students joined teacher Melodie Hicks in the annual Ca Marche AIDS Walk organized by the Farha Foundation, raising 500$ for the cause.

Malawi Nursing Exchange

The aim of this 6 week program is to increase the cultural competence of nursing students by providing them with the opportunity to be immersed in another culture. Students will experience rural and city living in Sub-Saharan, Africa.

They will also gain insight into the health care practices and values of the Malawian people and the role of the nurse

Cultural Competence and Nursing Education in the Global Community Conference

“With more than 400 people attending keynote addresses and workshops, Vanier’s first international Nursing conference was a glorious success. Hosted by the Vanier Nursing Department and the Vanier International Education Office, Cultural Competence and Nursing Education in the Global Community, held on April 30, 2010, aimed at addressing the challenges facing nurses in the global society.”

International Nurses Week

International Nurses week is celebrated the second week of every May. This year, Nursing students and teachers enjoyed some treats and were encouraged to complete a note of appreciation for one of their nursing colleagues. These notes were posted on a special 'Appreciation Tree'. Congratulations to nurses everywhere who work tirelessly to help others restore and maintain their health!
