Vanier College is pleased to announce that Vanier Social Science student Rose Morissette is one of the recipients of a $3,000 scholarship from the Golf Québec Bursary Program in collaboration with the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ). This year, 29 student-athletes shared a total of $73,000 in Academic Excellence scholarships that recognize outstanding academic achievements and Academic and Athletic Support scholarships that encourage a healthy sport/study balance.
Rose Morissette received her $3,000 scholarship in the category of Academic and Athletic Success Support. In 2016, Rose won four CRJ (Circuit Régional Junior) Golf Tournaments for 11- to 18-year olds; and came in 6th place at both the 2016 Graham Cooke Invitational Tournament as well as the Classique Optimiste Assante 2016. She is a member of the Le Blainvillier Golf Club.
Rose joins the ranks of past Vanier recipient of various FAEQ scholarships, wrestler Dorothy Yeats, and Vanier graduate, synchronized swimmer Brooke Brimo, and wrestler Alex Moore.
The Golf Québec-FAEQ program was created to financially support and provide guidance to young student-athletes and raise awareness about the importance of pursuing and succeeding in academics alongside a career on the greens.
“Our bursary recipients are stand outs, both on the golf course and in the classroom. They work hard every day to reach the pinnacle in both their sport and their studies. This financial support provides them with the necessary framework so they can stay focused on achieving their academic and athletic goals,” said Marcel Paul Raymond, President of Golf Québec.
Congratulations to Rose Morissette.
