This the 7th year running that Vanier College teams up with high school and university big bands to make great music.
This year’s concert will feature the A.L. Blue Flames from École André Laurendeau, under the direction of Normand Gosselin, the Université de Montréal Big Band, directed by Ron Di Lauro, and the Vanier College Big Band conducted by Jocelyn Couture. Dan Laxer from CJAD Radio will be the special host for the evening.
This annual autumn concert is a unique opportunity to hear musicians from different age groups. High school students get an idea of what big band music sounds like at a more advanced level and cegep musicians get to hear a university band.
“This collaboration across educational sectors provides a valuable experience at the beginning of the academic year to prepare student performers for concerts and competitions scheduled later on in the year,” says Nadia Turbide, Coordinator of the Vanier Music Department. “Judging from the response to concerts in previous years, you can expect an incredibly enthusiastic audience of students, parents and friends enjoying great entertainment.”
The concert is free and begins at 7 pm in the Vanier Auditorium (A-103), 821 Sainte-Croix Avenue.
