Vanier College in Montreal is pleased to announce that it has acquired the principal sponsorship of Scotiabank for the Scotiabank Vanier College National Marketing Case Competition set to take place in Saint Laurent, Quebec, on February 9 and 10, 2019. This national competition, formerly known as the BDC Vanier College Case Challenge, is now in its 14th year of welcoming some 30 teams from cegeps and colleges across Canada for what is the most prestigious college-level marketing competition in the country. Every year, over 200 people attend or participate in this annual event, which has proved to be an inspiration not only to the competing teams but also to the students in the audience who learn about marketing cases and how to make professional presentations.
“We are ecstatic that Scotiabank has accepted to be our new principal sponsor for Vanier’s annual national case competition. In fact, Scotiabank has been involved in the competition as one of our sponsors since 2011 and we are pleased that they have now taken on the additional role of principal sponsor,” said David Moscovitz, main organizer of the event and Vanier College team coach.
Scotiabank has promised $46,500 over a three-year period to help cover the costs of running this major event. This sum includes a $3000 annual scholarship divided among the three students on the winning team for them to pursue higher education.
“We also want to thank the BDC for their sponsorship of the Case Challenge since 2006. Their support was invaluable in helping Vanier develop this unique national bilingual marketing competition,” added David Moscovitz.
“Vanier College is thrilled to welcome Scotiabank as the principal sponsor of the new Scotiabank Vanier College National Marketing Case Competition, said, Mr. John McMahon, Director General of Vanier College. “Partnerships between Vanier and businesses or institutions like Scotiabank are essential to helping Vanier provide students with first-class learning opportunities, such as the case competition where they learn from a demanding real-world experience before a panel of judges from the business and education sectors. This event benefits not only the competitors but also all the marketing students who vie for a spot on a competing team and the students who volunteer during the event. Vanier is grateful for Scotiabank’s generosity and looks forward to this new partnership.”
“We are absolutely delighted to be taking our long time partnership to a whole new level. We see the value this annual event brings to its students & possibly to the future generation of Entrepreneurs,” said Giuseppe Catanzaro, Scotiabank Regional Director, Small Business Development Quebec Region and Eastern Ontario.
Round One of the 2019 competition will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel (Montreal Airport), 7000 Place Robert-Joncas, (514-339-5333). Presentations begin at 10:00 AM and run until 5:00 PM on Saturday. Because of the large number of participants, there will be three theatres of presentations on Saturday. These top six teams will then go on to compete in the finals Sunday morning, February 10, 2019, following which, an awards luncheon will take place.
