Clear your calendars for a very special concert on November 23 at Vanier College. Time to get ready for the Holidays with a wonderful concert to support Vanier students in need as well as local food banks for the holiday season. At a time of year when so many of us take for granted that we will be well fed going into the holiday season, it’s easy to forget that there are people in our own local community—and right here in our college—who struggle daily to put food on their tables.
So we challenge everyone to step up to the plate (so to speak) and help out by supporting this upbeat concert. The show will begin with the Vanier Music Department’s own Studio Musicianship Combo directed by Jacques Labelle performing a selection of rock and disco tunes to get you warmed up.
The main part of the show will be handled by Montreal’s The Last of the Duke Street Kings—a superb nine-piece tribute group featuring Vanier’s Glen Ethier on piano and keyboards. The Dukes are donating their time to perform a wide variety of tunes that are sure to get you out of your seats and dancing in the aisles. The Dukes will be performing infectious, toe-tapping songs from all over the map—The Beatles, Prince, The Rascals, John Fogerty, and of course Bruce Springsteen and more—in an event that is certain to remain in your memory for a long time afterwards.
Get ready to be impressed by these two hugely talented groups by warming up your best sing-along voice and practicing your hand clapping, toe tapping, and finger-snapping.
And the best part—it won’t cost you a cent! Admission is by donation of a non-perishable food item or items to be used in Holiday baskets for students in need and local charitable organizations.
The show starts at 7 pm in the Vanier College Auditorium on November 23, 2016 at 821 Sainte-Croix Avenue, St Laurent.
