Vanier College is proud to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of CEGEPs by inviting Saint Laurent residents to watch a simulcast special gala event that will feature, amongst others, a concert by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. The event is taking place in downtown Montreal on November 30th at 8 p.m and will be simulcast in real time to the Vanier College Auditorium as well as to the other 47 CEGEPs in the network. In addition to the MSO, the event will feature other dance, musical and comedy performances by artists including Koriass, Charles Richard-Hamelin and Jessica Viau.
“Vanier College is proud to be part of 50th anniversary of the creation of the CEGEP system, which is unique to Quebec. We would also like to take this opportunity to invite Saint Laurent residents to come to the Vanier Auditorium to enjoy this special concert from the comfort of their own borough for a very nominal cost,” said John McMahon, Director General of Vanier College.
Tickets for the concert will be sold for $10 with all proceeds going to the Vanier College Foundation, a registered non-profit organization committed to helping Vanier College maintain its high academic standing and enhancing the educational life of its students.
A number of other events have also been organized to celebrate this 50th anniversary landmark. Among them are the release of videos of CEGEP alumni or ambassadors commenting on what CEGEP meant to them and a comprehensive advertising campaign in collaboration with the Fédération des Cégeps, extolling their benefits over the last 50 years.
Tickets will be offered on a first-come first-served basis. You can pre-purchase tickets by calling (514) 744-7500 (press 0) or by visiting F-224 at Vanier College, 821 Sainte-Croix Ave. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the show in the Vanier Auditorium located in A-103.
