STEM Centre Workshop Offerings
The STEM Centre offers a number of different workshops that are specifically tailored for science students. Workshops can take place in the STEM Centre (D-301) or in the teacher's classroom. Workshops last between 20 and 45 minutes.
Available Workshops & Descriptions
This workshop is usually run jointly with a professional from TASC. The focus of this workshop is to engage students into thinking about time management and how to plan out their time in such a way that they are able to properly balance school, work, and social obligations.
Math & Science Study Skills
This workshop addresses important study skills students should be adopting to better succeed in their science courses. It can include discussion on note-taking and preparing/studying for exams.
In-Class Peer Tutor Led Review
For this workshop, one of our peer tutors is sent to a classroom and runs a tutorial where students are welcomed to openly ask questions. The tutor will go through each question in detail and address any difficulties.
STEM Centre Tour
This workshop typically brings a class of students from their classroom to the STEM Centre. The focus is to expose students to the academic support available for their math and science courses. During the tour of the Centre, students are given a brief overview of what services and activities are available. The workshop ends with a scavenger hunt where students can win small prizes.
