Virtual Chess Tournament - May 14th, 2013
Vanier College versus the National College of Constanta in Romania

On May 14th, a virtual chess competition took place between seven students from Vanier College and nine students from our partner college, the National College of Constanta in Romania.

Four rounds were played with a total of twelve games. Players who were eliminated in the early rounds played each other in several unofficial games. Two students from Vanier College made it to the semi-final round and the final round took place between two students from the National College of Constanta who battled for the championship win.

The competition, the first of its kind for Vanier, was overall a success. The atmosphere and interactions between the students was friendly and the technology operated as expected. Furthermore, this competition served as a pilot test and will help to create a framework for establishing future virtual mathematics and science competitions.
