It was with a heavy heart that the College announced the death of longtime Vanier employee, Kay Audette, who passed away on December 5, 2013, at the age of 90. Kay worked in the Service Department form the very start of Vanier and had accumulated an astonishing 42 years of dedicated service.

In 2000, Kay was named as Vanier’s Woman of the Year. (See photo below.) Our sympathies go out to her family and friends and of course to all of her many, many friends in the Vanier community.

Below is the message sent by our Director General, Gilbert Héroux.

It is with deep regret that I inform you of the passing of Kathleen Audette, on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Madame Audette has been a College employee since September 1, 1971 and worked in the Service Department until her passing.

The funeral service will take place at Notre-Dame-des-Anges Church, 1051, rue Principale (Corner Ste-Anne) in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, QC, J0J 1M0, on Saturday, December 14th. The family will receive condolences as of 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.

On behalf of the Vanier Community, I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to her family, colleagues and friends.

At Foyer Farnham, December 5th 2013, at the age of 90 years old passed away Mrs. Kathleen Hanigan. Wife of the late Roland R. Audette, resident of Montreal and once of Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge. She was the daughter of the late John H. Hanigan and Alice Lareau. The sister of the late John Lawrence Hanigan (Anita Martin); former counselor of the city of Montreal.

She leaves her brother Norman (Henriette Nolin), her nieces and nephews: Carmen, Doris, Guy, Patricia, Michael, Lucy, Stephen, and their spouses as well as many great nieces and nephews. She leaves other relatives, dear friends and many colleagues and friends from College Vanier St-Laurent.

The family will receive condolences at the church in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, December 14th, 2013, starting at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 11am. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to the BROME-MISSISQUOI Funeral Complex, 215 River Street Bedford, Qc J0J 1A0 The burial of her ashes will follow at the local cemetery.
