WHAT IS A MAJOR IN WOMEN’S STUDIES?
Getting a Women’s Studies Major exposes students to women’s issues and gender issues in Canada and in the world. Students who are interested in women’s history, women’s rights and equality, gender roles in the mass media, in the family and in society will benefit from getting a Women’s Studies Major. Getting a Women’s Studies Major enhances a student’s educational experience at Vanier College and increases work and study opportunities upon graduation.
Earning a Women’s Studies Major does not involve taking extra classes or switching programs: it involves taking 5 courses (two A courses and 3 A, B or C courses) listed in the Women’s Studies Brochure that the student already needs to take in order to graduate from his/her program. To apply to the Women’s Studies Program, please fill in a Women’s Studies application form and set up a brief appointment with the Women’s Studies Coordinator.
