are awarded to students who combine superior achievement both in their
academic program and their sport at the national or international level.
Presentations were made at a reception held on May 20, 2004.
We are proud to
announce that this year's Sport-Études female athlete of the year
is Megan Poss. She is also the recipient of the silver award of excellence.
Megan is currently an honours student in Commerce. After Vanier College,
she is considering university studies in business management or law.
||Megan is an
accomplished synchronized swimmer who has moved quickly up the ladder
from competing at her original home club (Kitchener-Waterloo Synchro
Club) and Ontario provincial championships to competing at the national
and international level. In 2001, she moved to Montreal to train with
Montréal Synchro. In November of 2001, she made the Junior
National Team, and in 2002, she was a member of the Junior World Silver
Medal Team and the World Bronze medalist in the combination routine.
In 2003, she was selected as the Canadian Junior soloist and duet
for the national team. Also, in 2003, Megan came first in the team
event and second in solo and duet at the American Airlines Open.
Megan has recently moved
up to the senior level and her coach has great expectations for
her. Recently, she competed at the Canadian Nationals and came second
in duet. She is currently a member of the Senior B team.
The daughter of Carolyn
MacGregor and Jeffrey Poss of Waterloo, Ontario, Megan is coached
by Julie Sauvé of Montréal Synchro. She is a graduate
of École secondaire Antoine de Saint Exupéry.
Megan is a worthy recipient
of this award. Vanier College wishes her much success in all of
her future endeavours.
