The Sport-Études Foundation, in collaboration with Reseau des sports (RDS) and Le ministère des Affaires municipales, du Sport et du Loisir, is pleased to offer awards of excellence to student athletes of l'École Sport-Études for the year 2003-2004.

These scholarships are awarded to students who combine superior achievement both in their academic program and their sport at the national or international level. Presentations were made at a reception held on May 20, 2004.

We are proud to announce that this year's Sport-Études female athlete of the year is Megan Poss. She is also the recipient of the silver award of excellence. Megan is currently an honours student in Commerce. After Vanier College, she is considering university studies in business management or law.

Megan is an accomplished synchronized swimmer who has moved quickly up the ladder from competing at her original home club (Kitchener-Waterloo Synchro Club) and Ontario provincial championships to competing at the national and international level. In 2001, she moved to Montreal to train with Montréal Synchro. In November of 2001, she made the Junior National Team, and in 2002, she was a member of the Junior World Silver Medal Team and the World Bronze medalist in the combination routine. In 2003, she was selected as the Canadian Junior soloist and duet for the national team. Also, in 2003, Megan came first in the team event and second in solo and duet at the American Airlines Open.

Megan has recently moved up to the senior level and her coach has great expectations for her. Recently, she competed at the Canadian Nationals and came second in duet. She is currently a member of the Senior B team.

The daughter of Carolyn MacGregor and Jeffrey Poss of Waterloo, Ontario, Megan is coached by Julie Sauvé of Montréal Synchro. She is a graduate of École secondaire Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

Megan is a worthy recipient of this award. Vanier College wishes her much success in all of her future endeavours.
