POSS, SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMER EXTRAORDINAIRE

Vanier College is proud to announce that this year's Sport-Études scholarship winner is Megan Poss. The Sport-Études Foundation, in collaboration with Radio-Canada, presented awards of excellence to student athletes of l'École Sport-Études, at a reception held on May 19, 2005. These scholarships recognize students who combine superior achievement, both in their academic program and their sport at the national or international level. |

Megan is a
worthy recipient of this award. She is an exemplary student athlete who
graduated this spring in Commerce on the Dean's Honour List with well
over 90%. Megan is an accomplished synchronized swimmer who has moved
quickly up the ladder, from competing at her original home club (Kitchener-Waterloo
Synchro Club) and Ontario provincial championships, to competing at the
national and international level. In 2001, she moved to Montreal to train
with Montréal Synchro. November of 2001, she made the Junior National
Team, and in 2002, she was a member of the Junior World Silver Medal Team
and the World Bronze medalist in the combination routine. In 2003, she
was selected as the Canadian Junior soloist and duet for the national
team. Also, in 2003, Megan came first in the team event and second in
solo and duet at the American Airlines Open.
This past summer, she was a member of Team Canada at the World Aquatic Championships in Montreal. The team placed fourth in all three of their events and their final standing was fifth. Megan is the daughter of Carolyn MacGregor and Jeffrey Poss of Waterloo, Ontario. She is a graduate of École secondaire Antoine de Saint Exupéry. This fall she will be attending
McGill University in the Faculty of Management. Vanier College wishes
her much success in all of her future endeavours. |
