DAMIAN BUCKLEY IS ONE OF VANIER'S
HIGHEST SCORING PLAYERS OF ALL TIME

AAA Cheetah Basketball point guard Damian Buckley is without a doubt one of the greatest players to have ever graced a court here at Vanier. He capped off his career by being the first person in Vanier history to be named All-Canadian by the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association for two years in a row. The AAA Basketball Cheetahs are having one of their best seasons in many years, and Damian Buckley's recent performances has played a major role in the team's success. They won a silver medal at this year's Provincial Championships, and now, due to their seventh place ranking in the country, the team will participate (for the first time since 1990) at the Nationals held in Kamloops, BC from March 18-20th. DAMIAN'S MOST RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS

In the Montreal Gazette of Wednesday, March 10, 2004, Damian Buckley was listed in the "Rising Stars" section, where they announced his selection as an ALL-CANADIAN for the second straight year by the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association. He also was named by the FQSE as the Quebec league's outstanding player and is the province's nominee for this year's upcoming CCAA player-of-the-year award.
On February 14th, 2004 he scored his 1500th point of his career at Vanier, one of only a very few Vanier basketball athletes to ever reach this plateau.
Written up in the Gazette of December 18th, 2003, he was named MVP of the Sun Youth Basketball Tournament after scoring 28 points in the final game.
On March 9, 2003, at the Athletics Awards Banquet, apart from being selected as MVP of the AAA Basketball Cheetahs, it was announced that the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association named him to the 1st all-star team as well as selected him as an ALL-CANADIAN.
On November 13th, 2002, he was honoured as Amateur Athlete Of The Week by The Gazette and Global TV with an extensive article as well as a spot on Global TV News on the same day.
