Purpose: Scholarly and Trade
Scholarly articles and publications
exist for one purpose: the pursuit and dissemination of knowledge.
Scholarly sources are not concerned with selling issues to make
a profit; their goal is to get information to professors, researchers
and scholars.
Trade sources pursue knowledge; but on a less formal style than
scholarly sources. As we have seen, the information provided
in trade sources is much less rigid in several areas (format,
language) than scholarly sources. Although trade and scholarly
sources differ, they both pursue the advancement of knowledge
and information. Scholarly is more research orientated; while
the trade source is more practical and hands on.
