Claire: What classes are you taking this semester, Annie?

Annie: I five classes. I most my film class.

Annie: Yes, I a lot about films. I also some very different movies.

Claire: How long films ?

Annie: Films for over a century. Over 100 years , August and Louis Lumière projected the first moving picture in Paris.

Claire: Who invented the technology?

Annie: Inventors to perfect the technique for years. Louis Lumière was the one who finally invented the camera in one night. The brothers were able to film, print and project movies with the single machine.

Claire: How much did they film?

Annie: The brothers went around the world, filming many 15-20-second short films.

Claire: What was one of the earliest films?

Annie: The oldest film that I is Voyage dans la Lune, which means “A Trip to the Moon” in French. It is a 14-minute film made in France in 1902. Georges Melies, who also a magician, directed this movie.

Claire: Was that inspired at all by Jules Verne’s From the Earth to the Moon?

Annie: Yes, you’re right, that did inspire Melies. In fact, I the book because of the movie.

Claire: Was that Melies’ only film?

Annie: No, it wasn’t. Melies was a director for many years. He produced over 500 short films.

Annie: No, I haven’t, I’ only about three in all.

Claire: Have you seen any of Charlie Chaplin’s movies?

Annie: Yes, I his movies very much. We also much more recent movies from all around the world.

Annie: My favourite recent film is Run Lola Run, a German movie made in 1999.

Claire: It sounds like you this class.

Annie: Yes, very much.
