Mr. Schwartz: Good morning, class. Has anyone here ever seen a movie by Alfred Hitchcock?

Jennie: Yes, I have seen The Birds, but it was a long time .

Joseph: I have watched Vertigo several times. I saw it fifteen years , and I loved it right away. I have also seen The Man who knew too much. I saw it two days .

Mr. Schwartz: Good, because today, we are discussing this famous man and his wonderful movies. Does anyone know when he directed a movie?

Joel: Was it in the 1930’s?

Mr. Schwartz: No, but you’re close. Hitchcock made a movie 78 years , in 1925. The movie was called The Pleasure Garden, and it was a silent film.

Joshua: What was his last movie?

Mr. Schwartz: Hitch made a movie in 1976, although Family Plot is not very well known. He made a masterpiece in 1963, and it was The Birds. I was terrified when I first saw it.

Jude: So when did he direct Rear Window and North by Northwest?

Mr. Schwartz: He did Rear Window nearly fifty years . He made North by Northwest in the 1950’s. I saw that movie yesterday, actually.

Julian: Is Hitchcock still alive?

Mr. Schwartz: No, unfortunately. The “master of suspense ” died 13 years , in 1980. And now, let’s watch Hitchcock’s 1945 movie, Spellbound, with Ingrid Bergman and Carrie Grant. Enjoy!
