Summer English Intensive for Teens:

The goal of this intensive program is to help students from Secondary I - III improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills using a variety of interactive methods. Morning instruction will focus on language acquisition.

n the afternoons (12:30 pm - 2:30 pm) students will use a more interactive approach to reinforce the skills learned in the morning:

  • Presentations
  • Spelling bees
  • Theatre skits
  • Role-playing
  • Language games (Scrabble, Pictionary, Game Show).

The goal of the afternoon activities is to involve the students in everyday situations where they will practice their English.

Students also participate in several outings and sports activities that allow them to use their English outsided of the classroom. Using their English in this manner is an essential component of the program and essential to student success. This summer, students participated in the following activities (included in the course fee):

  • Biodome/Insectarium
  • Educational workshops (in English) at the Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Soccer Baseball
  • Bowling
  • Vanier Olympics (students developed their own sport and taught their classmates how to play it..in English, of course!)

This intensive program is ideal for people who wish to learn a lot in a short period. The emphasis will be on learning French for everyday communication. Grammar exercises will be included, and students will have the option to visit Montreal's cultural sights.

The small class size will ensure that each student feels at ease practising his/her new language skills. Topics will include greetings and introductions, asking for directions, telling time, useful phrases for shopping, eating out, and making appointments, and other key phrases for getting around a French-speaking environment.
