Academic Writing Skills

Students will learn essential academic skills, useful for anyone who is such as:

• looking for main ideas in a text
• forming an opinion on a reading
• summarizing main points in your own words
• organizing your ideas
• developing a thesis statement
• creating an outline
• structuring your essay
• writing grammatically correct sentences

This course is also designed for people who want to prepare for the Vanier College English Admission Test.

If students have applied to Vanier College, they may write the English Admission Test on the last day of class. Results for all students remain valid should they choose to apply to the College in a subsequent semester.

Note: Taking this course does not guarantee admission to Vanier College. This is not a basic writing course. Age: 16 and over.
