Conversation Partners Program Volunteering
If you are a Vanier student who likes to meet new people, then the Conversation Partners Program might be for you. This program is run by the Vanier College Language School and provides second language students of the School with more speaking practice.
If you are a Vanier student who enjoys helping others and learning about different cultures, and who has strong communication and interpersonal skills, then becoming a Conversation Partner might be of interest to you. You would commit to coming to the Language School one hour per week between 1:00 and 2:00. You would speak one-on-one with some students or animate a discussion with a whole group. You might even start a game of Pictionary or Scrabble. The goal of the program is to create a friendly, informal atmosphere where students feel at ease practicing their new language skills.
The benefits to you would include improving your communicating skills, developing your leadership skills, learning about new cultures, making new friends, receiving a certificate of merit, and adding experience to your curriculum vitae for university applications and prospective employment.
