International Education

Each year Vanier welcomes international students to study in its regular DEC pre-university and technology programs. These students have come from many different countries from around the world and they join Vanier's already rich multicultural student body.

The English Department offers a variety of English courses to help students develop their skills. Students are first tested and then placed in the appropriate level of English. Students must complete four English courses as described here.

The Learning Centre offers numerous services to assist students in improving their English skills:

• Individual assistance with professional staff, one hour weekly. To make an appointment, click here.
• Individual assistance with a peer tutor, one hour weekly.
• Conversation Club and Pronunciation Club
• Numerous handouts to help students improve their communication skills
• English Now: An Online Grammar Course: This course with its many exercises helps students review verb tenses.

Language School

You may wish to study in Vanier's regular DEC pre-university or technology programs, but your English skills may not be sufficient for full-time studies. The Language School offers intensive courses to prepare you. The Language School's website (Questions and Answers) provides helpful information on living in Montreal. This website also offers numerous ESL links to help you improve your English.
