Honours Science, Liberal Arts and Honors Social Science Trip to New York City

This year’s destination for the annual Honors Science, Liberal Arts and Honors Social Science trip was New York City, from April 5 to 7, 2013. Thirty-eight excited students and four teachers packed a bus for what felt like a short drive to the Big Apple. Shortly after their arrival, they headed midtown to visit the Museum of Modern Art. That was followed by some sightseeing in Times Square. Some students chose to simply hang out with the other tourists packing the area, while others saw a Broadway play and even a few enjoyed the Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Gardens.

Saturday was a fantastic sunny day. After the group visit to the American Museum of Natural History, many took the subway to Ground Zero to admire the new Freedom Tower under construction. The students enjoyed the weather and spent the afternoon and evening walking and discovering the different areas of Manhattan (China Town, Little Italy, Greenwich Village and Times Square).

Finally on Sunday, in between pleasant walks in Central Park, they visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and spent their last moments getting ready for the bus ride home. As in past years, they returned to Vanier tired, but happy after another successful student trip.
