Samantha CambridgeSamantha Cambridge
My name is Samantha Cambridge, and I am a second year Commerce student. I am an eighteen year old girl who loves music, reading, and writing. This is my second time traveling to Central America for a trip like this, and I am sure this one is going to be even better than the last. I am very grateful to have been chosen to go on the Vanier College Nicaragua Study Trip. This trip will not only allow me to experience new cultures first-hand, and it will educate me about important issues that many people around the world face today. I cannot wait for this eye-opening experience. I hope to come back enlightened and ready to make a difference in the world.

Nicole ZakiNicole Zaki
Hello, my name is Nicole Zaki and it’s currently my second year at Vanier College. I’m studying in International Studies which explores different religions and cultures throughout society. I’ve always been interested in social justice and in the near future I want to change the world. I know it sounds out of reach but step by step I believe peace will be attained. Going to Nicaragua is an opportunity of a life time and I cannot wait to live with a family and get to know the cultural differences first hand. I’m nervous but also anxious to learn about their culture and come back with more of an appreciation of what we have here!

Janessa Brouillette-CullifordJanessa Brouillette-Culliford
Hey there! I’m in my second year of the Music & Science double DEC program, I’m 19 years old and I love working and being with people. I’m really interested in education and human rights, and those are two really big reasons I signed up for the Nicaragua trip. I also thought travelling to another country and experiencing life in a mindset and culture that completely contrasts what I’m used to would be enriching and life-changing! I have heard lots of great things about the people of Nicaragua, so on top of seeing what I can learn about the education system & women’s opportunities for education while I’m down there, I really hope I can forge some lifelong friendships along the way. My career path after CEGEP is still foggy at best, but I know that I have a lifelong goal to make a difference in the world and improve people’s lives somewhere with what I choose to do, and I think this trip is a great way to start!

Hi, my name is Layal Turk and I am 19 years old. I am in the law and society program and this is my last year at Vanier. I decided to join the Nicaragua study trip in order to discover a new culture, and to work on some social justice issues going on down there. My main focus is women’s right and the current situation in Nicaragua is that women cannot get an abortion under any circumstances. I am super excited for this trip and I can’t wait to share the things I’ve learned with everyone when I come back.
