Industrial Electronics is continually upgrading its equipment to prepare its students to work with relevant equipment and technology. Within the department there is a computer on every laboratory bench, as well as a separate computer lab. Lab activities are designed to move the student gradually from the novice level to the integrated computerized system level of control.

Computer Lab

Our Computer lab is equipped with Pentium computers networked to our departmental server. A full range of software for the preparation of assignments, lab reports, and professional technical documentation is available. Specifically: word processing, spreadsheet analysis and graphing, drafting, circuit analysis, data acquisition and presentation software is available to all our students. Sixteen computers plus one teacher station, two dot matrix printers and one laser printer are also installed. During scheduled lab sessions, each student works on his/her own computer. When the lab is not in use, this laboratory is available to all our students to complete their assignments and reports.

Electronics Lab

The Electronics lab is used to provide students with all basic electronic test equipment used in the industry, such as oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies and a wide selection of other items used in general electronics. The lab is equipped with seven student workstations and one teacher work station, as well as a laser printer. Each workstation is also equipped with a computer for data acquisition analysis and the taking of notes of lab results. Lab results can then be directly inserted into spreadsheets for analysis and graphing, and be stored in the individual student's server space.

Robotics Lab

Our Robotics lab is equipped with a complete computerized industrial robotic work cell, as well as seven additional student work stations, each with a computer for the students. Specialized robotic simulation and development software is available on these computers. Also, all the same software that is available in the computer lab is available in the Robotics lab.

Power Lab

The Power lab is equipped with motors, generators, motor drives, electronic test equipment, computer monitoring equipment, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Most PLCs can also connected to personal computers for programming.

Instrumentation and Process Control Lab

The Instrumentation and Process Control lab is fully equipped to measure and monitor our in-lab Pressure station, Temperature station and our remote Level and Flow stations. This lab integrates the instrumentation and monitoring stations with process control equipment, as well as provide sophisticated computer simulation of each station.

Printed Circuit Board Facility

In addition to these labs, the department also maintain a Printed Circuit Board Facility for the manufacturing of printed circuit boards for students' projects as well as for the manufacturing of in house circuits used in our labs.
