Although not a program pre-requisite, but highly recommended, students should have aquatic and small boat handling skills. Physical Education courses can be used to acquire skills in these areas, if necessary. A Physical Education course in Wilderness First Aid is required. This course is offered in the fourth semester of the program. Knowledge of safety techniques in field situations is essential.
Successful completion of this program requires that the student acquire and be able to demonstrate various practical skills and physical abilities, in order to ensure that they will function capably and safely in various work settings. This being the case, individuals having physical limitations should contact the Program Coordinator to discuss potential difficulties they could encounter in following this program.
