This pictorial essay highlights in a visual manner the major theme of this year's Holocaust Symposium: Youth.
It serves as a witness to how the Holocaust robbed an entire generation of young survivors of both their youth and their innocence. It also pays tribute to the estimated one and a half million children who dissapeared but are not forgotten.
This figure includes more than 1.2 million Jewish children, tens of thousands of Gypsy children and thousands of institutionalized handicapped children who were murdered under Nazi rule in Germany and occupied Europe. (From www.auschwitz.dk/docu/Faq.htm.)
