2018 Sustainability in Higher Education in Canada Conference

Members of the Vanier community are invited to attend the 2018 Sustainability in Higher Education in Canada conference, which is taking place from May 22 to May 25 at Vanier College and McGill University. 

The conference is a partnership between Canadian College and University Environmental Network (CCUEN) and Canadian Alliance of College and University Sustainability Professionals (CUSP). 

The conference theme is Campus as a Living Lab, and a key focus will be the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and how colleges and universities can work toward achieving them. 

This year’s Keynote Speaker is Amy Luers, the Executive Director of Future Earth (http://www.futureearth.org/news/future-earth-names-amy-luers-new-executive-director). The Keynote Listener is Meghan Fay-Zahniser, the Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).

Sessions on May 23-24 include Campuses as Living Labs, Research Perspectives and Priorities for Environmental Educators and Sustainability Professionals, Operational Perspectives and Priorities, Curriculum and Student Experience, Social Justice Perspectives and Priorities, and Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals.

May 25 includes network-specific activities for CCUEN, CUSP, and regional networks.  CCUEN activities will include environmental program overviews from member institutions, discussions about field schools and experiential learning opportunities, employer needs and how programs can prepare students for employment, and the CCUEN annual general meeting.
