Peggy Hogan | Hip Hop Feminsm: Expanding & Embodying the Genre
Thursday, March 10, 2016 | |
08:00 to 09:30 | |
Peggy Hogan is a Montreal-based multi-disciplinary performing artist. Her two main projects, the three-piece ensemble Peggy Hogan and the solo hip-hop artists Hua Li, explore themes of sexuality, race, feminism and interpersonal communication all the while maintaining a firm grasp on musicianship and tradition in her songwriting. Through a performance of two of her songs, Peggy will address the basic tenets of hip hop feminism and how she tries to embody it’s contradictory or “percussive” tendencies in her musical practice.
