Vanier College wants its students to succeed and takes great care in assessing all new students and placing them in English courses that are appropriate to their skill level. In their first English class, students are at a similar level of English proficiency. Developing good communication skills in English is one of the most valuable assets you will acquire. It is all the more important since students must write the Ministry’s English Exit Exam in order to receive their DCS.
If you’re having difficulty with English, the English Department and support services available at the College will help you get the tools you need to succeed, such as peer tutoring; workshops to improve your language skills, study strategies, writing, and oral presentations; conversation partners with whom to practice your English; and ample opportunities for enriching your college experience at Vanier.
