Feline and canine veterinary clinic based in the heart of the Montreal Plateau is looking for a full time Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic, upbeat, fast paced, and growing clinic. A successful candidate will be able to work independently and fluently as part of our amazing team. The candidate needs to be caring, animal-oriented, customer service oriented and have high levels of self-initiative. Respect, teamwork, and commitment are the core values of our team.

The key responsibilities would include assisting veterinarians in consultations and following through with blood work, urinalysis, x-rays, ultrasounds, laboratory requisitions, hospitalization of patients and any other assistance the veterinarians require.

The ideal candidate would also have experience or be willing to take on surgery rotation as well within the clinic; dentistry experience or willing to pursue continued education in dentistry would be an added asset.

Please note that this position is highly valued within our practice, veterinary technicians are an integral part of an efficient and successful veterinary team.

The Veterinary Technician tasks also includes:

  • Be able to multitask between multiple patients, veterinary requests, and client questions.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Be able to work under pressure during busy seasons; such as flea/tick season.

  • Maintain accurate client and patient records.

  • Respond to or direct phone calls and client requests efficiently and promptly.

  • Ability to take baseline values (TPR, blood pressure, feel femoral pulse)

  • Ability to  triage and recognize medical emergencies.

  • Knowledge of Logivet, idexx laboratory machines and digital x-rays are an asset.

  • Maintain the flow of veterinary requests and delegate as needed effectively.

  • Phone follow ups with clients for animals in hospital, postoperative clients, clients with questions, and for information on flea, tick and heartworm season.

  • Cultivating relationships with clients and the community.

  • Takes initiative and uses creativity in helping improve our current practices.

  • Compassionate and animal welfare oriented.

  • General veterinary technician requirements: IV Catheterization, blood collection, cystocentesis urine collection, low-stress restraint, fluid rates, drug calculations, hospitalization and treatment plans as directed by veterinarians.

  • Reception, as needed.



  • DEC in Animal Health Technology

  • Be willing to work full time (30-40 hours a week), nights, and Saturdays on rotation.

  • Looking for a long-term commitment.

  • Must be fluent in English and French (oral and written).
