Generation for Change raises money to build two primary schools in the Masai Mara region of Kenya.

Vanier, Abbott and Marianopolis Colleges have banded together under the title Generation for Change to raise funds towards the construction of two primary schools in Kenya. The construction of the schools is under the auspices of the Free the Children campaign based in Kenya. After observing the success of Make Poverty History and the Live8 shows, Christina Opolko and Alessandra Salituri, of Vanier College invented Generation for Change. This group is devoted to raising global awareness through music and to bringing colleges in the Montreal area together, in order to fundraise in support of international development and Make Poverty History.

In six months, a small group of students have raised close to $6 000. Their most ambitious initiative to date, takes place tomorrow, April 26 th. Two simultaneous events will reach thousands of young adults. On Wednesday, April 26 there will be dual Live Music Fests at Vanier and John Abbott Colleges. More than 50 bands ranging in style from a cappella Gospel to rap will participate. The event kicks off at Vanier starting 11:55 AM and continues until 4:00 PM. There are events in the Student Mall as well as the college Auditorium. There is a free will offering of $5.00 requested.
