Vanier College has confirmed that it will organize and host the Second Annual 2007 Vanier College – BDC Case Challenge on February 16 and 17, 2007.

Vanier initiated the first ever, highly successful case competition among English Cegeps in Quebec last year. The event sponsored by BDC was so well-received it has grown this year to include eight colleges, four from Québec and four from Ontario.

In 2006 Vanier College launched the first Cegep level case competition to stimulate and challenge students in the Business Administration Program by giving them a taste and feel for real-world business problems.

“It’s an intense challenge where students put into practice what they’ve learned in their Business Administration Program. We challenge them and they rise to the occasion. It’s a winning event for all,” says David Moscovitz, Vanier College - BDC Case Challenge Coordinator.

Students in teams of three have three hours to analyze and present viable marketing solutions to real business case examples in front of a panel of judges. They are graded on the quality and practicality of their proposed solutions, along with the quality of their presentation styles.

This year Vanier, John Abbott, Champlain, and Dawson from Quebec and Seneca, Centennial, Saint-Lawrence and Algonquin from Ontario, will send competitors for the gruelling two-day event.

“In 2008 we’ll be looking to expand the competition to include more colleges from Québec and elsewhere in Canada,” says David Moscovitz.
