Graduating students who need less than 4 courses to complete their DEC may be considered "Fin de DEC". Fin de DEC students are not required to pay the $2.00 per hour tuition fees but must see an Academic Advisor prior to registration. Fin de DEC status can only be assigned.
Anyone with the academic background satisfying our admission's criteria can register for courses at Vanier College Continuing Education. However, you should consult your agent before registering to verify how many courses you are allowed to take while receiving Social Assistance or Employment Insurance.
If you are registered for the last courses required for graduation you must complete a "Graduation Evaluation Request" form available in the Reception Office (Room E115) or online. All graduating students must, whether DEC or AEC complete the Graduation Evaluation Request.
All students who are graduating in a DEC program must pass an English Exit Exam and Comprehensive Assessment. You cannot graduate without passing them. Contact the Registrar's Office at 514-744-7100 or go online for more information.
Attestation students do not have to write the English Exit Exam nor the Comprehensive Assessment.
Dropping or deleting a course means to remove it completely from the student's record and will no longer appear on the student's transcript. Course withdrawals must be requested in person, by mail or by fax through the centre for Continuing Education. Students must respect refund deadlines. Students are required to keep their copy of the delete form as proof of course withdrawal. The consequences of withdrawing from a course include:
Prolonging the amount of time it will take to complete your program
Losing your full-time student status, (if your student status changes from full-time to part-time all fees will be recalculated) and
No longer being eligible to receive student loans and bursaries.
