Parking Regulations
The previsions of the Vanier College Traffic and Parking Regulations are adopted for the purpose of promoting safe and orderly movement of traffic and the parking of vehicles, motorcycles, and bicycles on College Grounds. Parking of vehicles and bicycles is limited to specially designated areas. Proper permits are required. Any vehicle, motorcycle, or bicycle parked in violation is subject to fines and/or towing. All persons who enter onto College grounds are expected to have knowledge of the Vanier College Traffic and Parking Regulations. The Vanier College Traffic and Parking Regulations stay in effect throughout the year.
Campus Roads
The speed limit on Vanier College campus roads is 15 kilometres per hour. No motor vehicle should be parked or left standing on campus roads at any time for any purpose other than loading and unloading passengers or materials, which should not exceed 5 minutes. (A vehicle left unattended is to be considered parked)
Vehicle Parking
No vehicle should be stopped, left standing or parked other than within a single marked parking space, that is between two yellow lines. Oversized vehicles must obtain authorization from the parking attendant or security. Parking on campus grounds is permitted in the following zones:
- P1 H-Building: H Decals only
- P2 Continuing Education: E Decals only
- P3 Auditorium Entrance: NC Decals only
- P4 A, B, C and K Building: NC Decals only
- P5 New Building: NC Decals only
- P6 Sports Complex: H, G and NC Decals
- P7 Sports Complex Daily Parking: Cash/Credit card
Continuing Education Parking
Semester Parking is available after 5pm in the Sports Complex Parking Lot only (P6/P7). Evening semester Parking Permits are available in Room E-115 at the following cost:
- 1 evening per week (for 15 weeks): $35
- 2 evenings per week (for 15 weeks): $70
- 3 evenings per week (for 15 weeks): $105
- 4 evenings per week (for 15 weeks): $140
Weekend Parking is $6 per day.
Parking after 5:00 p.m. is also available at a cost of $4.00 per individual evening. Tickets are available at the Parking Pay Stations. Vehicles parked on campus without a valid permit or ticket will be towed immediately at the owner's expense. There is a zero tolerance policy.
Parking for the Disabled
Only vehicles with a special Vanier College parking pass for the disabled may park in any one of the designated spaces. Permits can be requested at the Office of Student Services, C-203. Parking spaces for the disabled are designated in:
- P2: 1 Space
- P3: 1 Space
- P4: 3 Spaces
- P5: 3 Spaces
- P6: 2 Spaces
Vehicles that are parked in a space designated for disabled parking without the proper permit, obstruct, block or otherwise bar access to those parking spaces will be towed immediately at the owner's expense.
Parking Decals
Parking decals are sold for a parking zone of choice to Vanier College employees at the Office of Building Services, C-103. Priority will be given to permanent Vanier College full-time employees. Vehicles may only park in the designated parking zone. If space is not available in the applicable zone, the vehicle must proceed to the Sports Complex parking P6 where space may be available.
Evening students can purchase a semester pass valid for one particular weekday for the duration of the semester at the Continuing Education Reception Office, E-115. Parking is restricted to the Sports Complex parking P6 and P7 on a first-come first-served basis, after 5:00 p.m. Fines for vehicles parked in violation of the parking regulations by decal holders must be cleared before another decal will be issued.
Daily Parking
Daily parking is limited to the Sports Complex parking P7 at a cost of $6.00 per day or $4.00 after 5:00 p.m. Hourly parking is also available at $2.00 for the first hour and at $1 for each additional hour.
The tickets can be obtained at one of the Parking Pay Stations and must be placed clearly visible on the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Vehicles with a daily parking permit are not allowed to park in a zone designated for parking with decals.
Bicycle Parking
Parking bicycles is permitted in areas specifically designated by the presence of a rack designed for the parking of bicycles. No person shall park, store or leave a bicycle in such a manner as to block normal entrance or exit for any building or as to interfere with the normal movement of disabled persons. No bicycle shall be chained or otherwise locked to a handrail, tree, shrub, door, sign post, lamp, tele-phone pole, fence or other objects not designated for the purpose of securing a bicycle.
Fines
Tickets for violations of the Vanier College Traffic and Parking Regulations are $28.00. Vehicles parked on campus without a valid decal, permit, or cash receipt will be towed immediately at the owner's expense. Also note that after any two unpaid infraction tickets and upon issuance of a third ticket, immediate towing will occur.
