What are digital systems?

Digital has to do with anything that involves digital signals ( 1's and 0's). This can be seen in many products we take for granted: from the car you drive to the coffee maker which seems to be brewing before you get out of bed.

What do I need to get into CST?

Please see Specific Requirements for Admission to the CST program at the Vanier Website.

What is a technician or a technologist?

According to The Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists:
- In the world of technology, those who help to design devices and equipment, who decide exactly what equipment to use on a particular project, who figure out how to use it and who supervise its installation and use are generally known as technologists.
- The people who actually install, test, use and fix equipment and who become the hands-on experts with a specific piece of technology are known as technicians.

After graduation can I enter the job market and what type of jobs can I get?

After graduation students can get jobs as technologists or technicians. There is a high demand for graduates of this program in the computer related technology companies such as MATROX, IBM.

Is it possible to take just the core courses and take the other courses at a later date?

Yes. It is possible but this will make your stay at Vanier longer by nearly a year or two years.

What would happen if I failed a core course?

Since different courses are given in each semester, you will have to wait out a semester before you can repeat the course.
