What is Computer Science Technology?

Computer Science Technology is a three-year career program of studies that prepares you to work as a as an Internet site developer, a database developer, a computer programmer or a network administrator in business, industry, and the public sector. Computer systems used in these areas are more and more complex. Thorough preparation is needed to perform well at jobs in this field.

Students starting in the program are assumed to have no background in computers. Everything starts from the beginning. Some students may have previous experience using computers and this will be useful. However, those with no experience can be reassured that they are not at a disadvantage. As long as you come prepared to work and learn you can succeed.

What is Computer Science all about?

Computers are used almost everywhere today in businesses, at home and on the Internet. The computer is a powerful tool for storing and processing information. However, it is only brought to usefulness and apparent life by a program. A computer program is a carefully thought out, step-by-step, set of instructions prepared by a programmer. Preparation of programs requires analysis, perseverance, and creativity. It is fun as well. It usually requires teamwork and knowledge in areas other than computers.

The Computer Science Technology program includes many computer courses, English courses, French courses, as well as courses in the humanities, mathematics, business administration, psychology and physical education. Employers regard all aspects of this training as being important for future employees.

This career program is open to qualified students graduating from high school, mature students returning to studies, and to people who are changing their field of study.

Training and specialization then continue throughout ones career. Computer Science Technology gets you started on this pathway with training and then provides you with a "stage" (or internship) in industry while completing your final semester of studies.
