Teacher Biographies

Andréanne Abbondanza-BergeronAndréanne Abbondanza-Bergeron Andréanne Abbondanza-Bergeron is a sculptor and installation artist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master in Art Education from Concordia University. She works with various mediums including wood, metal, clay, plaster and plastic. Her art practice reflects everyday social interactions and the environment that surrounds us. Her work has been presented in galleries and public spaces in Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Belgium, the United States and Canada.Website: www.abbondanzabergeron.com
Colleen AyoupColleen Ayoup Colleen Ayoup is a multi-disciplinary artist who began as a commercial photographer; filmmaking soon followed along with a focus in new-media. While working at the National Film Board of Canada she managed and coordinated programs for emerging talent as well as educational websites including CitizenShift, an award-winning site centered on citizen journalism. Ayoup attended the Dawson Institute of Photography, received a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media from Ryerson University (Toronto).
Cheryl DonisonCheryl Donison Cheryl Donison is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily in video installation. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Interdisciplinary Studies), as well as a Masters of Fine Arts (Open Media) from Concordia University. Donison currently teaches video production, media and film studies, and has taught trans-disciplinary studio and theoretical approaches to video, sound, performance and installation. She has also worked as a cross-cultural community organizer, and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) from the University of Western Ontario, with a focus on international politics.
Louise DrouinLouise Drouin Louise Drouin has a comprehensive background in painting, drawing and mixed-media. She received a Master in Art Education from Concordia University. For the last 15 years she has been immersed in her passion for painting with watercolour. She recently returned from a sabbatical, spending four months in Jamaica painting the local scenery. She has had several exhibitions at the Gallery at Victoria Hall in Westmount. Thomas FisherThomas Fisher Thomas Fisher is a graphic and effects designer. He attended Central St. Martins College of Art and Design (London, UK); studied Film Technology at Ryerson Polytechnic (Toronto), and Graphic and Industrial Design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design (Vancouver); he also studied undergraduate Architecture and Art History at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver). Fisher completed his graduate studies at Concordia University, where he also worked as a faculty member of the Fine Arts department.
Alan HarrisAlan Harris Alan Harris is an artist who works in photography, video, drawing and painting. He attended the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ School of Art and Design where he was awarded The Lillian and Murray Bliss Scholarship for Drawing. Harris also attended Sir George Williams University, and earned his Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (Halifax).
Christoph HeldtChristoph Heldt Christoph Heldt is a multi-disciplinary artist with a strong foundation in photography, design art and printmaking. His research interests deal with new-media and its impact on how we produce and learn about art in a contemporary western society, with an emphasis on the built environment. Justine LitynskiJustine Litynski Justine Litynski is a Montreal filmmaker. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies with a minor in Photography and a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from Concordia University. Her work investigates constructed mythologies and female identity. Through the use of portraiture and experimental narratives she questions the paths of ritual and tradition.
Afshin MatlabiAfshin Matlabi Afshin Matlabi is a Montreal-based visual artist. He works in drawing, print media, digital imaging and photography. He has a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of (Electrical) Engineering from Ryerson University (Toronto). He has complemented his extensive education with numerous courses at Emily Carr University of Art and Design (Vancouver) and the Ontario College of Art and Design (Toronto). Dayna McLeodDayna McLeod Dayna McLeod is a video and performance artist whose work has shown internationally. Over the years, she has received funding for video projects from the Canada Council and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and has won numerous awards. McLeod is currently at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture at Concordia University, pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD in Humanities.
Monique MoumblowMonique Moumblow Monique Moumblow is a visual artist who works primarily with video. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (Halifax), and a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. Her work has screened at festivals and galleries worldwide. Keith OrkuszKeith Orkusz Keith Orkusz is a visual artist, whose work has been exhibited nationally at various artist-run centres, commercial galleries and museums. He acquired a Diploma in Studio Arts (in Drawing) from the Alberta College of Art and Design, and a Master in Fine Arts (in Drawing) from Concordia University. Orkusz’s belief in a strong conceptual and visual foundation is the basis from which he challenges and provokes his students’ artistic growth. His total-immersion, no-nonsense work ethic, and high expectations are notorious.
Martin SiberokMartin Siberok Martin Siberok’s media career began in journalism, with a special emphasis on music and film. He helped establish the Montreal Mirror in 1985 and was the founding editor-in-chief of Hour in 1993. He has worked freelance for The Gazette, The Globe and Mail, CBC radio, CHOM-FM and CFMB. These days he is an editorial board member at The Nation, a news magazine that services the Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee in northern Quebec. At Vanier College, Siberok teaches courses in journalism, media studies and film studies. He has a Bachelor of Arts from York University (Toronto) and a Master of Arts from McGill University.
Dan StefikDan Stefik Dan Stefik has a Master in Film Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Business Administration from Concordia University. He has taught at both the CEGEP and university level, and is a co-founder of the Black and White Film Foundation. His interests include Realism and Modernism (in both art and cinema) and he considers French cinema to be amongst the most progressive on the planet.
Henri VenneHenri Venne Henri Venne is a photographer with an educational background in painting and drawing, including a Master of Fine Arts from Concordia University. His hybrid work combines elements from both painting and photographic fields, focusing on the thematic of landscape and memory. His work has been shown in museums and galleries across Canada and is part of many Canadian private and public art collections. He is currently represented by Art Mûr gallery in Montreal (www.artmur.com).

Technician Biographies

Kevin DoucetKevin Doucet An alumnus of the Communications program at Vanier College, Kevin Doucet works as a technician in the department’s Media Lab. As a DJ, he was an early adopter of the Montreal electronic music scene, and would incorporate cinematic elements into his music projects. Working at Concordia University for over a decade as an IT/Apple technician, Doucet brought his technical and creative experience to Vanier in the fall of 2012.
Dale RobinsonDale Robinson In addition to working at Vanier College since 2001 as the Photography Lab technician, Dale Robinson has worked as a photographer for many years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Photography, followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production from Concordia University. When not pursuing his own dreams, Robinson works enthusiastically with students to help them realize their dreams.
