Back to Cegep.com: A new website to help adults who want to go back to Cegep

September 1st, 2010 | Posted in: Continuing Education, Education, Partnerships | No Comments »

Vanier College is proud to join the management teams of the Continuing Education and Corporate Services Departments of Québec’s 48 public colleges, under the aegis of the Fédération des cégeps, to launch a new internet website called Back to Cegep.com.  Designed for adults seeking to continue their education, streamline their skills or redirect their careers, as well as for companies with specific training or development needs, this new online search and reference tool presents all continuing education services currently offered in CEGEPS across Québec.

A tremendous initiative
Gilbert Héroux, Director General of Vanier College fully supports this new website.  “This is a tremendous initiative that will greatly facilitate access to services on the part of learners and employers and which once again positions colleges as leaders in adult education,” he says.

Find what you want, where you want it
The new online tool Back to Cegep.com includes a search engine enabling users to launch queries by CEGEP, by region or by sector of activity; comprehensive, regularly-updated information on continuing education programs, including short-term, long-term, full-time and part-time programs; and direct links to continuing education services aimed at corporations.

Continuing Education at Vanier
“We offer more than 100 regular credit courses, as well as AEC programs and Cegep à la carte courses,” says Sylvie Lord, Director of Vanier College Continuing Education.  An AEC – Attestation of Collegial Studies, which provides concentrated training in a specialized area, is an ideal way of retraining for a new career.  Vanier offers AECs in Early Childhood Education, Insurance, Computerized Financial Management, Computer Programming and Audio Recording, to name but a few.  Vanier also offers more than 25 Cegep à la carte courses in business, accounting, computer programming, graphical design, and early childhood service.

RAC services and tailored courses for business
“We are one of the largest Continuing Education Departments in the province,” explains Sylvie Lord, “and depending on the program, courses have starting dates all through the year so it’s a very flexible service.  We are proud of what we offer and we are constantly looking to develop new programs to meet the needs of the community and expand services such as prior learning assessment through Recognition of Acquired Competencies (RAC) services.  One of our priorities for the future is strengthening our relationship with companies and offering customized services and courses for business and industry.”

The Back to CEGEP campaign will continue this fall with the broadcast of new TV commercials across Québec, as well as new ads in specific print publications. Besides the launch of Back to Cegep.com, the campaign’s Web initiative also includes, among others, YouTube videos and a Facebook page dedicated to continuing education at the CEGEP level.
