With a focus on excellence in teaching, the Biology Department offers courses that prepare students for further university studies in many of the related biomedical and physical sciences. The department also offers courses of interest for different technology programs at Vanier College.

Science Program

In order to assist science students in their course selection, the Biology Department makes the following recommendations:

Health Science program:

  • Third Semester: GENERAL BIOLOGY I (101-NYA-05)
  • Fourth Semester: GENERAL BIOLOGY II (101-HTK-05)

Health Science Program, Biomedical Major:

  • Third Semester: GENERAL BIOLOGY I (101-NYA-05)
  • Fourth Semester: GENERAL BIOLOGY II (101-HTK-05)
  • HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY (101-HTP-VA)

Pure and Applied Science program:

  • Third or Fourth Semester: GENERAL BIOLOGY I (101-NYA-05)

N.B. Either General Biology I (101-NYA) or General Biology I and II (101-HTK) are required prerequisites for university science and engineering programs.

Courses for Non-Science Majors

HUMAN BIOLOGY (101-901-VA) is recommended for students planning to study Psychology at McGill or Concordia. It is also required by students planning to study Psychology at a Quebec French university.
