The 21st century has been called “the Age of Biology.” Biology is the science of living organisms, from their most elementary building blocks (molecules and cells) to the largest expressions of life (populations, communities, and global ecosystems).
Our biology courses tackle fundamental topics that define life on planet Earth—such as evolution, principles of inheritance, biodiversity, the interaction and impact of living organisms on their environment, chemistry of life, the molecular basis of genetics, and how the human body works.
With a focus on student success and excellence and innovation in teaching, the biology department offers the following:
- Exciting, hands-on, and hi-tech lab activities
- Dedicated and highly qualified teachers with a 1-to-1 ratio of teachers who hold a PhD degree to those who hold an MSc degree in biological sciences
- Biology Resource Centre for students seeking help with their studies
